Surnames in Jesse Lemmons' Civil War Pension File

Continuing with my series posts sharing the names from various pension files, here are the names mentioned in affadavits from the file for Jesse Lemmons.  Jesse was my 3rd Great Grandfather. Unfortunately for the Lemmons family, the claim for disability was denied. Jesse Lemmons' service was as a Private in Battery "E", West Virginia Light Artillery.

G. A. Newlon M.D., age 47, Upshur County, West Virginia, single page form is undated

Eli M. Pringle. age 36, Upshur County, West Virginia, 18 Aug 1885.  Eli Pringle was Jesse's son-in-law and married to Mary Ann Lemmons.

Peter H. Lemmons, age 35, Upshur County, West Virginia, 18 Aug 1885.  Peter Lemmons was Jesse's brother.

Surnames in my Ancestor's Civil War Pension files

Following the example of Cinnamon at (Mis) Adventures of a Genealogist, I will be doing a series of posts about the Civil War pension files that I have collected for my ancestors.   This will be a slow series--I have lots of files to read through again.

The first pension file is a small one.  Granville H. Cutright was my maternal 2nd Great Grandfather.  He served as a private in Co. E, 6th West Virginia Infantry.  His widow, Elizabeth Jane Beer Cutright filed for a pension after his death.

D. M. Cutright, M.D., no age listed, Upshur County, West Virginia, 31 March 1908.  I feel certain that this is Dennis Monroe Cutright, M.D.

S. B. Phillips, age not given, Upshur County, West Virginia, 29 Dec 1877.  I believe this is Sylvester Bunyan Phillips, who was Captain of Company C.
