Storm Track

Today, we had lots more rain than predicted.  The local ABC affiliate calls this Storm Track:

We are a little south of the rain right now, but still might see some more tonight.  Usually Storm Track is a joke, but today took everyone by surprise.

I have no knitting news since yesterday.  I plan to get a lot done on the gifty sweater this weekend and maybe finish the second Hollyday sock.  Not that I need any more projects, but some hats need to be made before Christmas, too.

This is the official ending post for the month of blogging.  It has been interesting to make this commitment to post every day.  I can't promise to keep up the pace, but hope to been more consistent in posting at least a couple of times a week.

One More Day

I'm too tired for much of a post tonight.  Can you believe that there is just one day left in the month of November?  I can't, and don't want to think about one more day until December.  I'm not ready for anything involving Christmas.

I received an order from the Loopy Ewe today.  Check this link for a photo of the Wollemeise lace-weight.  The color is Poison No.5 and it is so very pretty.

Secret Pal 11

My final reveal package came today from my super Secret Pal, Bethanie.  This last package included 3 skeins of a cute yarn I hadn't seen.  It's Get Away from Knit Picks in the colorway Hiking.  Bethanie also sent me nifty little knitting diary for 2008.

Thank you for being a great swap partner, Bethanie.  I appreciate everything you sent and look forward to some great new projects.

Down Day

I'm posting this one a little early while I still feel o.k.  I stayed home from work today after a rough night of tummy troubles.  Feeling better now, but not great.  I have had some extra knitting time today, so that's a good thing.  I finished the first of the Hollyday socks.  I will post tomorrow with details and links to the yarn and pattern.  Here's the photo:

I've been working on the sweater project, too. Just one more row of ribbing and I start the stockinette section.  I know not everyone agrees with me, but I enjoy plain stockinette.  Of course, this sweater may change my mind.  Wish me luck!

Monday

Here are the photos I promised yesterday.  The first is the beginning of the Dream in Color sweater.  The color is very washed out, but Photoshop Elements is still not working and cropping is the best I could do for tonight.

I went on to do about one inch of the ribbing later in the day.  We are starting up a crafty lunchtime group at work and I plan hope to make some good progress there on Thursday.  There are a couple of beginner knitters in the group, so I may not have a chance to work on my project while helping with theirs, but that's o.k.

This is a new picture of the mo$t expen$ive cat in the house.  Shorty is feeling better and seems to be accepting the fact that I'm sticking an eye dropper of antibiotics down his throat twice a day.

Sunday so soon?

How is it possible that the 4-day holiday break is already finished?  I want to be retired--work gets in the way of so many things.

Today was another lazy day.  I worked on the sock and the sweater project.  Not much more than a load of dishes and laundry.

Shorty is feeling much better.  His appetite is back and he's using the litter box at the appropriate times.

That's all for now.  Pictures tomorrow, I promise.

Lazy Saturday

Today has been a pretty quiet day.  This morning, I heard back from the vet and had to go buy some special prescription cat food.  Turns out that Shorty has kidney disease and the doc recommended that both cats start the special food due to their age.  Oreo has been losing a little weight, too, and I should take her in for a check-up.  After my credit card recovers from the shock.

I made quite a bit of progress on the new Hollyday sock.  The yarn is such a cheery set of holiday colors that it is fun to work with for long stretches of time.  My new project is going to be a sweater for Mom.  Final plans and swatching will start soon.

Here a couple of photos from the last couple of days:

Thanks for hanging in there with me for the past 3 weeks.  Can you believe that our month of posting will be finished in just 6 more days?

An expensive Friday

I had to take Shorty to the vet this afternoon.  He has crystals in his bladder/kidney area and is one unhappy kitty.  Tests are being run to find out if his kidneys can handle the special food needed to dissolve the crystals.  Poor boy even had to have a small patch of skin shaved to be able to have blood drawn.  I have the please of trying to get liquid medication into his stubborn little mouth twice a day.  All of this has cost over $300 so far.  I'm afraid to find out what the special diet will cost, if that's the way we have to go.  It's a good thing that there was no Black Friday shopping planned for today.

The new sock is coming along nicely, but I'll save the photo for tomorrow's post.

Thanksgiving

Did you have a nice Thanksgiving?  We have so far.  Dinner was a tasty mix of vegetarian fare and the traditional turkey.  My vegan pumpkin pie was a hit and the cranberry sauce was delicious.  The family was together--what more could we ask for?

I started a simple sock using Socks That Rock Lightweight yarn.  The colorway is Hollyday and perfect for Christmas socks.  Hopefully, they will be finished in time for Christmas 2007, not next year.

Wednesday

I wasn't kidding when I said posts would be brief for the next few days.  I'm in trying to get used to a new keyboard, too.

I've already made the cranberry sauce and working on pumpkin pie and a new green bean casserole recipe.
I'll let you know tomorrow how it turns out.
