Selfish complaining

I know that it's very self-centered to complain while more than 800 families in Southern California have had their homes damaged or destroyed, but I am so ready for the Santa Ana winds to die down.  It is 6 a.m. and the local weather site tells me that the temperature is 82 degrees with 12 percent humidity!  The smell of smoke is very strong and my eyes and nose are burning.  We are miles from any fire and so lucky.

O.k., enough whining.  I'm off to get ready for work.

Secret Pal thank yous

I've fallen behind again in thanking my super Secret Pal.  I have pictures of two packages to post today.  She's spoiling me rotten!!

The first shot shows the two skeins of Bartlett yarn and the package of delicious tea that were in the first package.  There was also a cute Kitty patch in that box.

Here is the second package.  It included a cute Mary Engelbreit calendar, yummy cinnamon scented candle, a little note pad titled "Life Without Change is Boring" and a package of Italian notecards and envelopes.

Thank you so much for everything, my dear Secret Pal!!

New podcast next month

So, Vickie Howell is offering prizes to bloggers posting her banner and linking to the page for her new podcast.  Here's the ad:

The lineup for her first series looks good.  I'm looking forward to hearing the new shows.

Vacation and Knitting Progress

I still feel like my timing is off after being back from vacation for two weeks.  This weekend helped, though.  Plenty of down time with a few must-do chores just for fun.

I'm not feeling creative so this post will be pretty much a list of photos and comments.

While on vacation we saw lot of family and scenery.  Here is the Mabry Mill, which is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.

The fall colors weren't as nice as they will be later in the month, but we weren't crazy about the chance of it being too cold for us California girls.  This tree was photographed through a car window somewhere between Ohio and Virginia.

I had plenty of airline and automobile riding time to knit.  I finished the Waterfall socks designed by Miss Babs for the Woolgirl sock club.

I also finished my pair of Opal Hundertwasser socks using Wendy's Fingering Weight toe-up sock with gusset pattern.  I also finished the Jaywalker sock, but forgot to take a photo this afternoon.  I can't wait until everyone can visit Ravelry.  That will make blogging so much easier.

Here is one more pretty picture from our trip.

Update time

Sorry for the lack of an update.  I am out of town with limited online access.  I ran out of time to post before leaving.  A full update will be posted late Sunday or Monday.
