Another Sunday

Here we are with another Sunday rolling around quickly.  The summer has been short, hasn't it?  During the week, Mom and I made our travel reservations for a vacation at the end of September.  It's been two years since I saw the far-away family and I'm looking forward to a fun trip.

I forgot to post a photo of the finished Garter Rib socks, but here they are:

Here is a Public Service Announcement--buy a scale capable of precise measurements!  I put these socks away  for months when I became convinced that the yarn was going to run out before I could finish the knitting.  After buying a scale and figuring out that there was enough yarn left, it was easy to get motivated and complete the socks.  That's not the exact scale I found in the store, but very close.

I'm working on my Jaywalker Scarf while trying to decide what is next on the needles.

Sunday

I just spotted Oreo lounging on the patio and couldn't resist taking some pictures:

On the knitting front, I'm working on finishing an old UFO.  They are Garter Rib Socks from "Sensational Knitted Socks".  These were started so long ago that I don't remember when or what colorway I used. The yarn is Socks That Rock Lightweight.  Here's a picture of the top of the first sock.  I'm down to the foot portion of the second sock.

Babette

Thanks to The Purl Bee for posting a short interview with Kathy Merrick.  Kathy designed Babette and offers a tutorial on seaming the squares together.  Now, I'm inspired to get going on mine again--just have to figure out what neutral color to use.

Lazy Blogger

I'll admit to be a bad blogger.  I just haven't had much to say.  Plenty of knitting is happening, plenty of yarn shopping has definitely been happening, vacation planning is underway and I can't think of anything else.

I started my first pair of Magic Loop socks last week.  The pattern is the Winter Sock from the Fiber Trends magic loop booklet.  It was o.k., but not that great to me--DPN's are still #1 in my knitting bag.  I'll finish the second sock and donate the pair to CIC.

The second of my Charade socks is moving along nicely since I put the Magic Loop on a temporary timeout.  I love feel of the Spunky Eclectic yarn.

I have been buying way too much sock yarn. Ravelry has been very hard on my bank account.  So many yarn temptations and enablers in the forums.

The samples are sKNITches, Dream in Color, Yartini, Lorna's Laces Flamingo (Breast Cancer Fund-raiser) & Yarn Love.  All but the Lorna's Laces were purchased from The Loopy Ewe.  I love that place--wonderful selection, super-fast shipping and a terrific owner.

To end this long post, here are two photos of my new knitting bag.  It's a Lady B in the Bali pattern by Lexi Barnes.  Yes, it was an expensive bag, but will be great for my vacation plans.  More about that in a future post.  Check out the skulls in the flower patterned fabric.
