Surf City

This morning, I went downtown to the pier and watched the high waves and surfers.  A storm in the Pacific brought lots of high waves in the past few days.  After strolling the pier to enoy the sunny skies, I went to my favorite bead shop and bought a book about bead knitting.  The needles called for are Size 0000 steel DP's.  Wish me luck.  I am also delving into bead crochet to make some bracelets for Christmas presents.

The Multidirectional scarf is finished.  Here are a couple of photos.  I really like to colors of the Silk Garden.

I'm not naming names, but it really bugs me when an online store doesn't update their out-of-stock items.  I odered some Artyarns Supermerino for a scarf along with some other yarns for CIC knitting.  I had an email the next day informing me that the Supermerino is on back order for approximately 3 weeks.  There was nothing at the site to suggest that any of the many yarns listed might not be ready to ship right away.  I realize that there is a lot of work involved in keeping these things updated but a clue to the possibility would have been nice. I won't be reordering from that store anytime soon.

This is after about two-thirds of the second sken of the Silk Garden.  The pattern is very easy once you get the hang of it and makes you want to keep going "just a few more rows" to see how it looks.

Mult-Directional Scarf

Today, I made a trip to Alamitos Bay Yarn Company and came home with 3 skeins of Noro Silk Garden.  This beautiful yarn is perfect for Iris Schreier's Multidirectional Scarf.  To get a free copy of the pattern join the Multidirectional group at Yahoo.  Iris is the author of Modular Knits and has many wonderful patterns available.  Her Artyarns are among my favorites and such a pleasure to knit.

Give A Little

Knitters are pulling together again to raise money for the victims of a natural disaster. Click on the "Give a Little" button in the left sidebar to be taken to the blog with more information. The total is already over $4,000. Prizes are being donated and weekly drawings are expected. I will send something soon--maybe the kit for the "Angela" shaw from Heirloom Knitting. My eyes are getting old and tired and I just can't see the cobweb yarn well enough to make this an enjoyable experience. What was I thinking?? Still thinking it over, though.

I mailed off my socks to CIC and will start a vest soon. The Peace Fleece arrived and will be wound into balls later tonight.
