Hi there, remember me?? It's been a looonng time coming, but here's and update on various things. In July, I went on a two-week vacation to visit family in Ohio, Virginia & West Virginia. My mom, sister and I went together and mostly had a good time. it was great to see lots of family for the first time in 30 years or so. Not all was fun, though. My Dad was anxious for us to come for a visit because of his declining health. A family reunion was held the day after we arrived-great fun, but not the best idea after a very long travel day. We did enjoy the day, ate lots of food and took lots of pictures.
Unfortunately, Dad suffered a serious setback during the second week of our visit. He was admitted to the hospital on a Wednesday and we had to leave the next Saturday afternoon. After a small improved, he had to return to ICU and died the Saturday after we came back home. His wish was to be cremated and a memorial service was held. It was hard being so far away at that time, but I am happy that we got to see him and enjoy the reunion and our family.
Cousin Ruth is working on the family genealogy and I look forward to sharing information and working with her on that project.
We did some sightseeing and enjoyed plenty of family meals, too. I will write more about our trip to the national D-Day Memorial and Lexington, VA on another day. Photos to follow someday...
Knitting-wise, I have been working on a lot of socks for CIC. Those will be mailed early next week. I have been bitten by a bug telling me to work on lace next. I order Sharon Miller's "Heirloom Knitting" book and one of her kits. The yarn is called "Cobweb". That should have been my first clue, right? This yarn is sooo thin, but soft and pretty. I have barely started the project (the Angela wrap) and think I will like it once I get used to the tiny scale.
