Sweet Peas

Aren't they pretty? These are the sweet peas that were started from seed what seems like a long time ago. All but one of the little plants died, but the one survivor is really blooming.

I've been busy with a painting project here at home and too tired to put two sane thoughts together. I took an extra vacation day Friday to start painting the living room. Goofy waste of a vac. day, but the paint job was way overdue. I hurt my shoulder and had to lay low on Saturday, but got a lot done yesterday. The hallway will be next, but not until the weekend.

Not much knitting going on--my arm and shoulder are still hurting. I printed off a cell phone cover pattern from Wendy's site and might start that later tonight. Don't have any Koigu laying around, but surely I can find something to substitute.

Berroco Free Pattern--Cell Phone Bag

I took this shot of Shorty this morning. He was sitting in the sun in front of the patio door and it seemed like a good time to grab a photo.

As expected, not many chores were finished today. That's o.k. - tomorrow's another day. I worked some on the Fenna shawl and will use this simple pattern to occupy my hands tonight while watching the Lakers playoff game.

Random stuff

I still have to copy the photos of the Candle Flame shawl from the camera to the PC, but hope to get to that later today. Have tons of things that need to be done and don't feel like doing most of them--typical weekend around here.

I received a new flask of orchids and will deflask them soon. The other orchids are doing great, especially the ones that I transplanted into the semi-hydroponic media. Lots of yard work needs to be done and the car washed, too.

On the knitting front, I made another potholder from leftover Peace Fleece. They turn out nice and thick when run through the washer and dryer. The only thing I'm working on at the moment is the Fenna shawl. Can't decide what is next for the needles.

Tomorrow, I plan to devote the day to scrapbooking and altering books. I have ordered ~tons~ of new supplies and need to get busy. This month's Club Scrap kit is gorgeous and the Jr. kit should be shipped today. Can't wait to see it next week--this kit is perfect for lots of my heritage photos. I'm thinking of giving up the Jr. kit and switching over to the new Club Stamp kits. I get a lot of use from the stamps in my altered book projects.

Things have been quiet this week--I haven't done much knitting and just don't have much to write about. I did start a pair of socks for Children in Common using Peace Fleece. The yarn in a little scratchy on the hands, but softens up after washing. My lunch time project iis another beanie--did I say that I finished the blue one? This one is made from tan Woolease and I should finish it up today. I don't know what to start next and think that is part of my problem.

The Candle Flame shawl is officially finished!! I worked liked crazy yesterday and got the border done in record time. I haven't taken a photo yet, but will post in a couple of days. It's so hot here that I can hardly stand the thought of handling that heavy shawl. Sitting in front of a fan is the only thing that kept me going yesterday.

Three cheers--I just finished the last repeat on the Candle Flame Shawl. The border is all garter stitch and I'm hoping it moves along quickly. Too hot for all this yarn in my lap, but I want to call this a FO!! I really like the pattern and will do it again in lace weight yarn.

Here's the finished pot holder. It is nice and thick and should felt down a little so it will keep the fingers from getting a burn. I'm famous in family circles for my ability to get burned by the coils in our oven, so any protection is gratefully accepted.

Of course, I didn't really need a pattern to make a garter stitch pot holder, but I wanted to see some of the handmade and handpainted needles that Peace Fleece sells. The kit came with size 10 needles, 4 1 oz. balls of worsted weight yarn, the pattern sheet and a nice flyer that tells the story of how Peace Fleece came to exist. The needles are birch and very well made--nice and smooth with a cool painted knob on the ends.
